Discover Downtown LaGrange Meetings are held:

Economic Restructuring/Design meet the first Tuesday of every month at 8:30am

Promotions meets the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 8:30am

Organization meets the 2nd Monday of every month at 6:00pm

The DDL Board meets the 2nd Wed of every month at 8:00am

Merchants Meeting is the 3rd Wed of every month at 8:30 am

4 Point Approach to Revitalization

Discover Downtown La Grange is a non-profit organization that involves the entire community in revitalizing downtown. Through a public/private partnership with the City and its residents, our objective is to improve the downtown by facilitating improvements and growth in the four distinct areas:

We’re part of the National Main Street Program, which is an organization that championed preservation and economic development in historic districts across the nation for more than 25 Years.

As part of the National Main Street program, Discover Downtown La Grange focuses on the past present and future.

Up until the second half of the 20th century, downtowns were vibrant centers of commerce. We shopped for food, clothes, and all our daily needs downtown. With the advent of the automobile, people could travel farther and faster. Development of suburbs and shopping malls in outlying areas had a significant and unforunate negative impact on downtown economies, affecting the value and condition of the buildings, jobs, tax base, and municipal investment.

Today this econmic shift is marked by chain superstores and large retail developments surrounded by subdivisions. “Generica” is the term that describes the ability to travel from Maine to California and eat at the same resturants, shop at the same stores: generic and void of the flavor of our country.

As we know, Kentucky’s downtowns are not generic, and they have great assets: unquie stores, personal service, second story housing, and historic properties.

Discover Downtown La Grange exists to protect our unique historic area of old La Grange. We manage the area as an industry, recruiting new businesses and helping existing ones expand and grow.
