History of the RR Festival
2010 marked the first La Grange Railroad Festival. Attendees enjoyed music, antiques, farm fresh foods, train swaps and antique cars. The event was held in several venues throughout town, including the Community Center, the History Center, the courthouse green and down Main Street. The event was held over three days the first year.

In 2011, the event was held on Friday and Saturday, September 16th and 17th. Included in the festivities:

  • Scale Model Train Swap Meet at Community center
  • Fall City Live Steamers Train Rides at the DeHaven Parking Lot
  • Antique Market on History Center grounds
  • Art Show at Gallery 104
  • History Center Activities
  • Farmers’ Market on Courthouse Lawn from 8:30 am to 1 pm

I’ve just discovered your town which looks like a great place to visit. Has a date for the 2012 Railroad Festival been picked yet? Our youngest son loves trains and I think this would be a great place to bring him!

Thank you,
Karen

Hey Karen — no, in fact we were talking about that this morning — that a date NEEDS to be picked. So, hopefully we’ll be announcing something by the first of the year. It’s going to be big this year, with cornhole tournaments, train displays and a lot of other great activities.

Thanks for asking! I’ll post it here as well when we know.

Still no dates for 2012?

DDL July 3, 2012 at 1:38 pm

Hey folks — the dates for the RR Festival this year are October 12 and 13. Be sure to check our calendar at http://discoverlagrange.org/calendar for more information as the dates get closer.

Hi, is this a free event and for the family? Thanks!

DDL August 28, 2012 at 12:22 pm

Hi Erin — it is a free event, and it specifically is for kids (and the kid in us!). You can see the events at http://lagrangerailroadfestival.com/.

For 2013 it obviously should be held on may 11 or nearest weaken cause that’s national train day

Wouldn’t it be great to have a steam locomotive at this event? Just dreaming.

admin October 14, 2013 at 2:27 pm

Yes it really would. If you have any connections, let us know. We are already talking about next year’s festival. We hope you had fun!
