Railroad Festival

2010 marked the first La Grange Railroad Festival. Attendees enjoyed music, antiques, farm fresh foods, train swaps and antique cars. The event was held in several venues throughout town, including the Community Center, the History Center, the courthouse green and down Main Street. This three-day event was fun, and the weather was great.

The committee for the Railroad Festival has met for next year’s event, which promises to be bigger and better than 2010. The schedule for the 2011 event is listed below:

Friday, September 16

  • Vinyl Kings (Great Music) 6-9pm at the Second Avenue Gazebo by the History Center — bring chairs, as Second will be closed between Main and Jefferson.

Saturday, September 17, starting at 8:30 am

  • Scale Model Train Swap Meet at Community center
  • Fall City Live Steamers Train Rides at the DeHaven Parking Lot
  • Antique Market on History Center grounds
  • Art Show at Gallery 104
  • History Center Activities
  • Farmers’ Market on Courthouse Lawn from 8:30 am to 1 pm

I’ve just discovered your town which looks like a great place to visit. Has a date for the 2012 Railroad Festival been picked yet? Our youngest son loves trains and I think this would be a great place to bring him!

Thank you,
Karen

Hey Karen — no, in fact we were talking about that this morning — that a date NEEDS to be picked. So, hopefully we’ll be announcing something by the first of the year. It’s going to be big this year, with cornhole tournaments, train displays and a lot of other great activities.

Thanks for asking! I’ll post it here as well when we know.
