We are already making preparations for the 2013 event!

Every year, Discover Downtown La Grange gives away prizes and gifts at  our bridal fair fashion show. Major sponsors and select vendors often donate these prizes in exchange for their corporate names being mentioned. So in addition to all of the wonderful wedding professionals and exhibitors you’ll meet at every show, you might just go home with one of our fabulous prizes when you attend the fashion show. You must be present at the start of the fashion show when we call your name to win. Otherwise we will call another name until we give away all the

For businesses, including real estate, attorneys, etc., we are creating a directory for brides and grooms that will go through 2013, both in print to hand out at this event. A table provides you with a listing in this directory, or you can pay $25 for a listing. This also is a DDL fund raiser, to help defray costs for Light Up La Grange 2012.

Why: To promote your business to the community.
How: Only $25 per vendor space (up to 8′) — reservations please by January 18th 2013.

2012

The second “Shop Local” bridal fair was sponsored by Sherry Cook of Blessed Winds Wedding & Floral; J&S Entertainment, Jeff Wilson DJ; The Oldham Era; Panache Hair Salon; Kay Bonura, Mary Kay; and, last but not least, The Couture Closet:

When: Saturday, January 28, 2012 from 10am to 4pm
Where: Immaculate Conception Catholic Church’s auditorium, 502 North Fifth Avenue, La Grange, KY 40031
Who: Discover Downtown La Grange under the direction of Sherry Cook from Blessed Winds Bridal and Floral, The Oldham Era, The Couture Closet (voted the Best Bridal Shop in Kentuckiana in 2011).
What: A bridal fair that exposes the community to everything Oldham County has to offer to its prospective brides and grooms.

2011

A rosy haze settled over La Grange as the first annual bridal fair came to town…Discover Downtown La Grange sponsored this town’s first “Tales, Veils & Rails” as part of our SHOP LOCAL campaign. We wanted everyone to realize that you can plan, shop for and conduct your entire wedding here in La Grange or in Oldham County. With two gorgeous beds & breakfasts in town, you even can honeymoon here — within a day’s trip to Louisville or Cincinnati!

The following dates and venues marked the 2011 event:

FRIDAY, JANUARY 28TH

Start at the community center on Jefferson Street (in the Town Hall building behind DeHaven Baptist Church) to enjoy local vendors who can cater to all your wedding plans. You’ll hear music by local musicians and enjoy poetry readings by local poets. Or, you can enjoy book signings conducted by local romance writers and poets at Karen’s Book Barn & Java Stop, including authors such as Maddie James, Elizabeth Bevarly and Mary O’Dell. Sponsored by locally-owned Turquoise Morning Press.

Community Center Vendors: 5-9 pm
Book signings at Karen’s: 6-8 pm
Most shops and restaurants open until 8 pm

SATURDAY, JANUARY 29TH

If you didn’t get enough of the vendors at the community center, then you can re-visit their services and wares today along with more local musicians. Also, visit our gem — the Oldham County Public Library on Yager to enjoy readings by romance writers along with a fashion show featuring local women modeling gowns from Couture Closet, jewelry from Loren’s Jewelers, outfits from Grandeur Station, makeup by Karen Bonura’s Mary Kay group and hair styles from Panache Salon.

Community Center Vendors: 10 am – 4 pm
Oldham County Library Events: 10 am – 3pm

Most shops and restaurants open until 6 pm or later
Take the Shuttle! Park and ride the shuttle that stops at the library, the community center
and Main Street (Main & Walnut) every 15 minutes beginning at 9:45 am and ending at 4 pm!
Schedules posted at all three stops (library, community center and Karen’s Book Barn).

The focus is to SHOP LOCAL — you can enjoy local artists, local resources and local honeymoon locations…all right here in La Grange, Ky! Spread the word!
SHUTTLE BUS ROUTE FOR SATURDAY, JANUARY 8, 2011

Please click on image below for larger version. The shuttle begins at 9:45 am at the Oldham County Public Library, with the Community Center as the second stop and Karen’s Book Barn as the third stop. The route takes about 15 minutes, considering traffic and the train. Route times are posted at those three stops. This shuttle is for Elvis events AND for the general public. There is no charge for this shuttle on this date.
